Like flower arrangement and tea ceremony, “kodo,” which has been handed down as one of Japan's traditional performing arts, is a form of art where incense is burned and waka poems and scenes are appreciated from its scent.
With this plan, you can learn about the culture of incense, and participate in an “incense party” where you can play several types of incense and guess which one has the same scent.
The “Incense Party” is hosted by the head of the Kodo Mishina Oheryu school, a descendant of the 12th Emperor Keiko, and the venue is “Hakusasonso,” a mansion built by Japanese painter Hashimoto Kanetsu as an atelier to carry out his own productions. Why don't you experience the elegant culture that has continued since the Heian period?
